EfM: Education for Ministry

This page is under construction.

EFM is an adult study program sponsored by the School of Theology of the University of the South in Sewanee, TN. It is a seminar format in four one-year modules of 34 weekly lessons each. Areas covered are: Year 1, the Old Testament; Year 2, the New Testament; Year 3, Church History (through 1800); and Year 4, the Church since 1800 (theology, history, liturgy, ecumenism, etc).

Using the discipline of theological reflection to help participants draw on Christian tradition, contemporary cultural contexts and patterns, as well as their own personal faith positions, EFM equips participants to formulate their own actions and discern their own ministry as Christian disciples living today.

Enrollment is in June and the seminar is limited to 12 persons. Although EFM is a four-year program enrollment is for one year at a time, so that a person enrolled who found it necessary to take a year or so off could do so and reenter to complete their study at a later time.
