Reports To: Director of Christian Education & Rector

Position Summary:
St. John's Episcopal Church is seeking a warm, dependable, and nurturing Nursery Care Provider to provide a safe, caring, and joyful environment for infants and young children during worship services and church events. The ideal candidate will create a welcoming atmosphere for both children and parents, supporting the church’s mission of hospitality, spiritual formation, and community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide attentive, age-appropriate care for infants and toddlers (typically ages 0–4) during Sunday morning services and occasional special events.

  • Ensure a clean, safe, and engaging play environment.

  • Greet families warmly and communicate with parents about their child’s needs and experiences.

  • Supervise check-in/check-out procedures and maintain accurate attendance records.

  • Follow all health, safety, and emergency procedures, including proper diapering and sanitizing practices.

  • Work collaboratively with church staff and volunteers, including additional nursery assistants as needed.

  • Model and maintain a respectful, compassionate, and inclusive attitude in alignment with Episcopal values.

  • Notify supervisor of supply needs or facility concerns related to the nursery.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience caring for infants and toddlers in a professional or volunteer capacity.

  • Reliable, punctual, and committed to regular Sunday morning availability—typically 9:00 a.m. – 12 (noon).

  • Ability to interact with children at their developmental level and communicate effectively with parents.

  • Must pass a background check and complete required Episcopal Church Safe Church training (compensated).

Compensation & Schedule:

  • Part-time hourly position; $20 per hour

  • Regular schedule: Sundays from 9:00 a.m. – 12 (noon) with occasional additional hours for special services or events as negotiated
